En la década de 1980, el reggae star Eddy Grant fue el canto de esperanza en su exitosa canción Gimme Esperanza Joanna.
Dirigido a un abusivo régimen de apartheid, que socava los derechos de la mayoría de los sudafricanos, Joanna Gimme Esperanza oraron por un futuro mejor para todos en este país.
Pero mientras que el embajador de 46664, se congratula de que finalmente pueda "tener una relación con [sus] los ventiladores" en Sudáfrica, tras el boicot que recorren todo el país durante la época del apartheid, que está sumamente preocupada por el estado del mundo.
"Estoy preocupado por la codicia que impregna este mundo en el momento", dice el elocuente estrellas ", y es manifiesto en la actual crisis económica.
"Esto provoca aberraciones codicia: acortar la vida útil, abusivas y de explotación de sistemas, por nombrar sólo dos."
Padre de cuatro hijos, algunos de los cuales, a su vez, tienen sus propios hijos, subvención que se refiere su "progenie será aspirado en esta jungla de asfalto".
No menos de sus preocupaciones es el VIH.
"Es la enfermedad de nuestro tiempo", dice. "Tenemos que entender cómo funciona esta grave enfermedad. Cualquiera puede tener el VIH. Es una enfermedad que no es específico de un grupo de personas. Todo el mundo tiene que preocuparse acerca de, pensar, hablar y hacer algo sobre el VIH. "
Subvención mundo cree que los organismos y los gobiernos no están haciendo lo suficiente para luchar contra la propagación del virus.
"Nuestros niños son nuestro futuro, y son el grupo que están más en riesgo. Si vamos a seguir buscando, si se busca construir, vamos a necesitar a estos niños. Ellos son las raíces de nuestra sociedad y la raíz se va a morir si no hacemos algo sobre esta enfermedad. "
Casado durante más de 40 años a la misma "mujer increíble", dice que la subvención nunca fue tentado extravía a pesar de su fama internacional.
"Nunca fue difícil para mí", dice riendo. "Hice un trato con Dios, muy pronto y siempre he cuidado yo.
"Yo espero milagros de mi cuerpo y usted no puede esperar el máximo de un mecanismo que no se cuidan".
Subvención ha realizado en Durban, Port Elizabeth y Ciudad del Cabo y aparece en Sun City el sábado 28 de febrero.
"Ha sido un viaje maravilloso", dice. "Cuando salía al escenario en Durban [su primer show en el sur de África] no podía creer la cantidad de personas estaban allí. Se vierte con la lluvia y, sin embargo, la gente estaba ahí, nadie se movió.
"Hemos tenido la más maravillosa, hermosa relación y que era el mismo en todas partes que he estado."
Actuando en el concierto de Hyde Park en junio del año pasado como embajador 46.664 marcados Grant primer show en 20 años.
"Es bonito que sucedió", dice. "Yo estaba pensando en hacer de Glastonbury y algunos de los otros festivales alrededor de Inglaterra cuando me invitaron a jugar. Fue increíble ser parte de la celebración de la vida de Nelson Mandela. "

Aimed at an abusive apartheid regime, which undermined the rights of the majority of South Africans, Gimme Hope Joanna prayed for a brighter future for all in this country.
But while the 46664 ambassador is glad that he can finally “have a relationship with [his] fans” in South Africa, after boycotting touring the country during the apartheid era, he is extremely concerned about the state of the world.
“I’m worried about the greed that permeates this world at the moment,” says the eloquent star, “and it’s manifest in the current economic crisis.
“This greed causes aberrations: shortened life-spans, abusive and exploitative systems, to name just two.”
Father of four children, some of whom, in turn, have their own children, Grant is concerned that his “progeny will be sucked up in this concrete jungle”.
Not least of his concerns is HIV.
“It’s the disease of our time,” he says. “We need to understand how this pernicious disease works. Anyone can get HIV. It’s not a disease that is specific to any one group of people. Everyone needs to care about, think about, speak about and do something about HIV.”
Grant believes that world bodies and governments are not doing nearly enough to combat the spread of the virus.
“Our children are our future, and they are the group who are most at risk. If we are looking to continue, if we are looking to build, we will need these children. They are the roots of our society and the root is going to die unless we do something about this disease.”
Married for over 40 years to the same “incredible woman”, Grant says that he was never tempted to stray despite his international fame.
“It was never difficult for me,” he laughs. “I made a deal with God very early on and I’ve always looked after myself.
“I expect miracles from my body and you can’t expect the maximum from a mechanism that you don’t look after.”
Grant has performed in Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town and appears at Sun City on Saturday February 28.
“It’s been a wonderful tour,” he says. “When I walked out on stage in Durban [his first show in South Africa] I couldn’t believe how many people were there. It was pouring with rain and yet people just stood there, no one moved.
“We had the most marvellous, beautiful relationship and it was the same everywhere else I’ve been.”
Performing at the Hyde Park concert in June last year as a 46664 ambassador marked Grant’s first show in 20 years.
“It happened beautifully,” he says. “I was thinking of doing Glastonbury and some of the other festivals around England when I got invited to play. It was amazing to be part of the celebration of Nelson Mandela’s life.”
